Nils Blommér's "Brage och Iduna" (Bragi and Iðunn), painted in 1846, is a beautiful representation of Norse mythology. The painting depicts Bragi, the god of poetry, and his wife Iðunn, the goddess of youth and rejuvenation. Bragi is shown playing a golden harp, while Iðunn stands behind him, holding a basket of apples, which are essential for keeping the gods youthful.
The production of this artwork involved Blommér's deep appreciation for Norse mythology and his artistic training at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts and later in Paris under Léon Cogniet. The painting is an oil on canvas. It is currently housed at the Malmö Art Museum in Sweden.
